To enable the tool tips, go to the configuration manager, insert 6. Load the default, control shift d. Do an alt S for settings. Type the letter v, for verboscity. If you are using the beginner verboscity, tab to, beginner preferences and press your spacebar. Or if you are using intermediate or advanced, then tab to the appropriate button. Type the letter t until you hear, tool tips, then press your spacebar to enable it. Tab to OK and press enter. Tab to OK once again and press enter. Christy, I Google this and everything I find involves editing the registry. By default, the balloon tips should be enabled. So unless you have disabled them, they should already be on. There could be an option in Jaws to enable the announcement, but I am not aware of any. What type of notifications are you not hearing? I realize that you are referring to the baloon messages, but are you talking about something like Windows update and similar items? If so, then I am not sure if there is a way to turn those types of notifications on and off. There may be, but I don't recall seeing that option anywhere.
