Hi Richard, That box was already unchecked, so I checked it and volume control in the system tray is now working correctly. Also Richard, a couple of months ago you helped me get Narrator running again. Well, I installed new XP operating systems on both computers and Narrator is now working correctly also. Narrator doesn't sound as clear as Reed on a telephone in an outhouse, or does he? But I do like the navigation ability of this one over MS 2000. Thanks for all the help. Mike

Either unload, and reload Jaws, or try a re-boot. As for the volume icon, control panel, sound and audio devices when that opens, tab to the checkbox to show the volume icon on the task bar, and uncheck it.
