I have not been following this thread so if this has already been addressed I am sorry.
Have you set the write protect tab to the off position? With the diskette in with the label side up there is a hole on the left corner nearest you. On the underside there is a hole too. If the holes line up so you could push a small item through like a thin drinking straw then it is set to write protect and the diskette cannot be written to. There is a small slider on the underside of the diskette a small square which slides either toward the far edge, the edge where the larger slider which protects the diskette surface or withdraws toward the edge nearest you. When slid away it covers the hole and permits writing to the diskette. Usually though diskettes these days come already formatted. If this information has already been covered I am sorry. Just that I use diskettes nearly daily to transfer data from an old DOS machine to a Windows XP until I get time to really make the application play well with Jaws on the Windows machine something I haven't got around to for nearly 8 years now. A couple more and I will be retired, I pray the DOS unit holds up. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, September 06, 2008 4:21 PM Subject: [JAWS-Users] Unable to format a floppy disk. > Good afternoon everyone, > > It seems that after I insert a floppy disk intothe a drive, when I enteron > the disk to open the disk and see what is on there, I get the following > message that says, Unable to format the disk.
