Not so fast. If the PC is running XP, the max that XP can address is 3 GB, so more isn't necessarily better. Some say to get as large an HD as you can get, but if you get a 1 terabyte HD, and it fails, you can lose a lot of data at once, so you might opt for a max of 500 GB, and add an external HD.
