Dan, Still sounds like a bug to me. If I were you I think I'd call FS.
Cheers
Alex

Subject: [JAWS-Users] More on my foreign language issue.

I've done some further experimentation and found the following:

If I open WordPad or even ExCel, and type into it, the PC cursor uses the
foreign language synth. If I save the WordPad doc as a dot rtf file, and
open it again, the PC cursor still uses the foreign language synth. All
looks happy.

However, if I open a dot doc file in WordPad or Word, or open a blank file
in Word, the PC cursor uses the American English synth while the other
cursors, and typing use the foreign language synth.

So, if I open Word and type:
1
2
3
4

As I type, with the Italian synth loaded, I hear:

uno
due
tre
quatro

Although they are pronounced properly. If I use the JAWS cursor and arrow
through the list I hear the same. However, if I use the PC cursor, I hear
one two three four.

If I open a blank WordPad document, I do not get this strange behavior.
So it is something to do with dot doc files. any ideas?
