Hello Renee,

In Microsoft Word open the tools menu and choose the "options" menu choice. Either use CTRL-Tab to move to the "view" page of the dialog box or use shift-tab to move to the page tabs and use left arrow or right arrow keys to move to the "view" tab. If it isn't found then use up and down arrow keys and then right and left arrow keys until the "view" page tab is located. However, when you first open Word and go into the options dialog the focus should be in the "general" page and using CTRL-Shift-Tab should move it to the "view" page. When in the "view" page use the tab key until you hear the "paragraph marks" choice and if it is checked then use spacebar to uncheck the choice. use tab key again to move to the OK button and press enter.

When the choice for paragraph marks is checked JAWS 9 reads "new line" at the end of lines, and tells you each paragraph mark as you move the cursor across it.

Take care.

I am trying to help a friend who is using microsoft word 2003 and JAWS 9. Whenever he up and down arrows in his document, JAWS is saying "new paragraph"

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
