Leonard, Well, I don't know the solution to your problem but I will tell you what works for me and, if you haven't already tried something similar, maybe it will work for you, too.
First of all, I am using Win2K Pro and JFW 6.2. Secondly, I never use the DeskTop. I copied the DeskTop shortcut for "MyComputer" and placed it on the StartMenu. When I select that option from the StartMenu, WindowsExplorer opens directly into a ListView containing all available drives. The drive at the top of this list is not "selected" at this point however JFW does announce it and the number of items in this list. When I press the WindowsKey+E, WindowsExplorer opens directly in the TreeView and JFW announces "My computer opened, 6 items." The 6 items are comprised of 5 drives plus the control panel. Incidently, I never open WindowsExplorer this way. If I did, however, the first thing that I would do is to press the TabKey to get into the ListView. When in the ListView, folders are grouped together and other files are listed. If you highlight the folder that you want to open and then press the EnterKey, that folder's contents will be displayed in the ListView. You can then highlight another folder and do the same thing. You can drill down into the tree structure as far as it goes by continuing this process. You can back out of a folder to the next higher level by simply pressing the BackSpaceKey. If you highlight a file instead of a folder and then press the EnterKey, the appropriate software will be launched to open that file. hth Bob ----- Original Message ----- From: "Leonard Morris" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, October 26, 2008 5:54 PM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] files and folder views revisited I am using XP Pro, and I just tried two methods with the same result. First, I clicked on "my computer" from the desktop and secondly windows key plus E which I would imagine are both methods for accessing windows explorer. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bob J." <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, October 27, 2008 1:32 PM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] files and folder views revisited > What operating system are you using?
