Have you tried setting the default synthesizer from within Configuration
Manager?

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Changing synthesizer.
OK, rather strange situation. I'd be surprised if anyone has any idea of
what is going on here.
I use both the Accent Minitransport synth as well as the Eloquence synth.
Recently, I have been using the Eloquence synth a lot. Whenever I leave
my desk, I lock the computer with WindowsKey-l. When I return to my desk
I hit control-alt-del and type in my PWD, and no problems.
Yesterday, I rebooted my system for a Windows update, and now my synth
keeps reverting to the Accent synth every time I unlock my computer.
What I am saying is that I set the synth to Eloquence, lock the computer,
unlock the computer, and JAWS reverts to the Accent synth instead of the
Eloquence synth.
I used the insert-control-s to change the synth initially, but then went
to JAWS, language, Change synthesizer. But I get the same result.
I can understand that if the Accent is set as the default synth, this
might happen. What confuses me is why wasn't it reverting the synth
before I rebooted the system? Up until yesterday, I could lock and unlock
the computer and the synth remained the Eloquence synth. Today, not so
much.
