To get rid of collapse alt+v and enter on group by conversation. This will 
uncheck the group messages by conversation. If you would like to continue to 
group the messages, but would like the messages to be expanded, Without 
having a message open. Alt+t for tools. O for options. Go to the read tab 
and check auto  expand messages and that  will allow the messages to be 
expanded and still have the messages be group by conversation. Or just 
simply open the collapsed message by using the four pack arrows Right arrow 
to open and left arrow to close.
