Hi,
I think this can be changed in tools/options on the read messages tab page.
I noticed on my husband's computer it was doing the same thing and comparing
his to mine, I discovered that on this read message page for the "watch
highlighted messages" which gives a list of colors and he had a color choice
of "red" and I had "default" and when I changed his to my setting then all
was ok.
