I have Word 2007 and JAWS 10. I did the following to make the same page link work:

1. I selected the "Bookmark info goes here" that was at the bottom of the page.
2. I created a bookmark calling it FirstOne.
3. I moved to the top of the document and pasted "Bookmark 1" there.
4. I selected the text at the top of the document and used CTRL-K to bring up the hyperlink dialog. 5. I found the list of possible types of links and used down arrow until I found bookmarks and then just under bookmarks was the one I created called FirstOne. With "FirstOne" selected I used tab key to the OK button and pressed enter.

When I use Insert-F7 the link is in the list and pressing enter moves focus to the bookmark at the bottom. Also, if I move focus on to the link and use the application key and choose the open link choice, the focus is moved to the bookmark at the bottom of the page.

I think the process is similar in Word 2003, but I am not at a system to try it right now.

Take care.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] MS Word hyperlinks and Jaws

Can anyone else successfully use the same page hyper linking in MS Word? I use XP Pro and Office 2003. I have called tech support, unfortunately the rep was unwilling to seek a solution beyond her own knowledge insisting it is a Word issue. I can successfully do the below on JFW version 8 but not 9 or 10 using the same machine, same MS Word and even same document. Switching from version to version when working is time consuming as well not having the hyper link feature is very time consuming as well.

Here is how to create a same page hyper link if you wish to try and let me know, off list if that is better for all.

1. In a "previously saved empty document", carriage return 8 to 10 times.

2. Type in the words "Bookmark 1"

Press carriage return twice and then type "Bookmark info goes here"

Arrow backup to the Bookmark 1 text, highlight it, and copy it with CTRL C

Go to the top of the document and paste as a hyperlink by pressing ALT E, then H. Or accessing the Edit menu and arrow down until you see Paste As Hyperlink.

This should create a link identifiable by Jaws in which you click or press Enter on it and it will whisk you to the place in which you copied the text. You can check by arrowing down twice to hear "Bookmark info goes here"

When I try it with the latter versions it simply does not paste anything. It is not grayed out/unavailable in the menu either, it simply will not paste anything. I'd be curious if anyone can do this in JFW version 10 Perhaps there is a setting to allow this. I've tried diddling with any settings I can think of in the verbocity settings that might affect it.

Thanks.

Brad
