Hello Marvin;

another thought regarding your messenger focus issues is?

when you open messenger, make sure your contact list, is expanded, by using the right arrow.

now, to start a conversation, just down arrow to one of your online contacts, press enter, now you can type a message, just press enter to send.

again, while in the message window, you can press, alt+spacebar, then X to maximize.
also, you can read the replies, with, alt+1 through 9.

Hello Marvin;

while I'm not using Windows Vista with Windows live messenger, perhaps the following steps will help you.

I experienced similar problems when I first installed Windows live.

1, while in the main messenger windows, press alt+t=tools,

2, O=options.

3, shift+tab once, you should hear, "personal, 1 of 11".

4, now, down-arrow one time, you'll hear, "general".

5, now start tabbing until you hear something like; "show windows live today, check box checked", press the spacebar to uncheck this item, then, tab to ok, press enter.

now when you start windows messenger, the windows live today screen, will not mess up the focus of jaws.

keep in mind, the windows live messenger, is somewhat different then the earlier versions.

also do you have your contacts sorted by, status, or groups,

if you go to the main window in messenger, alt-key, right arrow one time, to contacts, now, down arrow until you hear, "sort by sub-menu", right arrow to open. now, you can make your selection, perhaps, sorting by status, would help, so, press enter, on status.

also, remember, there's no tabbing in a message conversation, you use, alt+1 through 9, to read the different messages.

also? if you want to read, or edit, as in copy some particular information, you could press, the f6-key, and now arrow through the message content.

well, I hope this gets you started.

if you need more help, please contact me.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] windows live messenger jaws problems

Hi.
just added a contact and tried to send a sms, but jaws is having problems,
trying to focus, and was wondering.
is there an invisible cursur or some edit fields, not reading properly.
what other accessibility settings do i need to change in order to jaws to
read really well with windows live messenger.
and could not even get to my sister's contact, and kept landing when i tried
to send a sms, to the other contac tperson's list.
and when i did a search for sister's contact, could be not found.
so, using jaws 10 with windows vista.
any help or suggestions, how to resolve this issue?
cheers Marvin.
ps: and is there a jaws friendly tutorial on using some of the other
features of windows live or msn messenger?
