Kathy,

I've installed the Brailliant for a number of people. JAWS doesn't
contain the Brailliant drivers so you can't install it from the JAWS
end, either as part of a JAWS install or by adding a Braille display
afterwards. Although this makes it more difficult to get going, the
feedback I've had about the display makes it worthwhile!

You should have got a CD with the Brailliant. Put the CD in the drive.
Plug the Braille display in and it will start the new hardware wizard.
Don't connect to Windows Update to search for the software, but if the
automatic installation doesn't pick up the drivers, point to the folder
Drivers on the CD and it will install the USB drivers for the
Brailliant. Two installs are needed, the first for "Brailliant 64", the
second for "Brailliant 64 USB Serial port". Both will bring up a message
about "not [having] passed Windows Logo testing ...". Ignore these
warnings and install anyway.

Next, go into the Device Manager (System Properties dialogue, Hardware
page) and, under Ports (COM & LPT), find the Brailliant. It will have a
Com Port assigned to it. Note the number.

On the CD, find the JAWS folder and start the driver install setup. It
will prompt for the type of connection, the size of the Braille display
and the com port number. If there is more than one version of JAWS
installed, it will default to the highest version, but you can choose an
earlier one if you want.

Restart JAWS and you should find the display comes up. You might need to
go to JAWS, Options menu, Braille and find it in the list for the
default.

If you need more detail on the above, please ask.

Steve
