Hi,
Here is one more thing to try.  Go to options in the tools menu and on the
general page make sure that you have the checkmark for "Automatically
display folders with unread messages".  I think it might make a difference. 
I seem to remember that when I was setting up outlook express that that was 
the thing that did the trick.  But it has been a while.  But I think that if 
that is clicked the folders will always be displayed as long as there is at 
least one unread message somewhere in the folders.

Well in the past I've never had to use the right arrow to keep opening my
inbox.  When I've shifted a message that I would like to move into a
particular folder within outlook express,
I had no trouble at all, but now, when I move messages from the inbox to
whatever folder I've created, it won't go there until I make sure  the inbox
