Hi Fina, Just booted up the 98 machine to make sure where all these things live because it has been a long time. Go into ControlPanel, then display. On the first tab, the backgrounds tab set the wallpaper to none by hitting the home key in the list. You probably want to press control plus tab to go to the next tab which is screensaver and do the same there. Next go on over to the web tab with a couple more "control plus tabs" and make sure "view my desktop as a web page" is unchecked. That should silence the chatter.
