I have also experienced this problem from time to time on certain web sites
using JAWS 9 and IE 7. I find that launching an alternative screen reader
like NVDA sometimes unlocks JAWS and brings it back to life without the need
to reboot.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] JAWS and IE7
I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing this? I don't know if this
is
a jaws problem, an IE7 problem, or maybe a combination of both, but lately
Jaws seems to lock up when going to websites. Jaws just completely stops
talking, and nothing brings it back. The only way I'm able to get Jaws
back
is to kill the system with the power button, then reboot the computer. I
hate doing that to the computer! I've never seen jaws act this unstable
before.
Sometimes, you can get Jaws back if you alt-tab out of the window and wait
for about 30 seconds, but it's still not acting normally. I notice this a
lot on the website Facebook. But it can happen at random on any website.
Then you'll get a message about how internet explorer has stopped working.
Then you can restart the program. So what's the reason for all this
instability? I'm running Vista home premium, and a friend of mine is
running Windows XP home. We're both using Jaws 10 and this problem
happens
way more often than it should.
