Actually, the models that come with solid state HD's are no cheaper than the ones that come with mechanical HD's. Because Intel has introduced a new Atom processor, you can get great deals on netbooks with the older processor. Machines that sold for over $400 a month ago are now selling for under $300. I have seen the Acer Aspire 1 for as low as $269.
