Of course you can send and receive attachments in Thunder Bird using JAWS. In order to attach something you need to go through your File menu until you find the Attach option. This will then bring up a dialog box for you to select the document you wish to attach similar to that in OE. You can open attachments by, once again, using this option in your File menu. Just press enter on the document you wish to open or right click on it to save.

I am using Thunder Bird for the same reason. I still use OE because it seems to do a better job keeping my computer from being disconnected from the Internet all of the time. I have pasted your original message below.
