Hi, you go in to the format menu and find columns there.  However its
different in office 2007. I can't remember where it is there.

I used Word Perfect, it referred to the 2 columns as newspaper columns. 
Which reads one column of text and then you go to the next column to 
continue and so forth...
I believe that is found in the Edit menu of Word or it's in the Insert menu 
to draw tables...
