I have not experienced the specific problem with IE 8 you describe, but I am
encountering other problems with it using JAWS 9. Some web pages that
loaded fine with IE 7 will not load with IE 8. In such cases, a dialog box
pops up with a message that IE 8 needs to close and recover the web page.
So I hit Space on the Close button, and voila, the dialog box pops up again.
This happens about five times before IE 8 finally returns to my home page
without successfully loading the page in question. I'm considering
reverting to IE 7 because of this and other minor issues with IE 8 that make
it a hassle to use. It looks like MS jumped the gun and released IE 8
prematurely just like it did with Vista.
