Glenn, I am using paid version AVG 8.5. It came installed on my system in October, 2008. I believe the Invoice said I paid about $60.00 for it. He's got it scheduled to run each day at noon. It is accessible with JAWS, and, it runs all the time in the background. For the most part I just leave it alone. I can't answer many questions about it, except when I look at something JAWS has always read it for me!
