What Gerald said is correct. You must unlload Jaws before you start
the next version. Have you set up a hot key for each Jaws version?
If not, move the cursor to the Jaws icon on the desktop and enter
Alt+delete to bring up the properties for each Jaws version.
Tab over to shortcut key and enter a shortcut key of your choice.
For example,For Jaws 8, Alt+CTRL+8 will do the trick. Use the top
number row not the NumPad. Do likewise for Jaws 9 using Alt+CTRL+9. I
use Alt+CTRL+J for my current version of Jaws.

Greetings everyone,
I'm writing today,to ask how to switch back and forth between
jaws 8 and 9.
Right now I'm using jaws 9 but, sometimes I would like to return
to jaws 8. to do this , I tried to go to programs and select jaws 8.o but
when I did a say line key stroke, it said,"Jaws 9.o." I also tried to bring
it up using the typing the name in the run box, and still when I press the
say line command, It still says jaws 9. What else can I do? Thanks in
advance. Blue skies and green lights.

Sincerely yours,
