Hello everyone,

I am using a Sony VAIO VGN-SR190E notebook. When I installed JAWS 10.0.1142
(well, actually, when I installed the 10.0.1139 a few days earlier) in late
March, I noticed that RealSpeak Solo Direct was behaving oddly. It inserts
jibberish words and characters into the normal speech pattern; in some
instances, like when reading the message list in Outlook, it would say
something totally different instead of "unread" etc.

I am using RealSpeak Solo Direct now, and when reading the line I just
typed, I heard "beachp" before the word "message" in that line. Even when
I type letters sometimes I get jibberish instead. It is almost like
RealSpeak/JAWS is taking information from other parts of the screen and
blending it into the current stream.

I called Freedom Scientific and they had no idea what I was talking about.
They suggested reinstalling the Realtek HD audio driver that came with my
computer, but that did nothing except slow RealSpeak Solo Direct down. It
was because of the slowness that I removed the Realtek driver and started
using the default Microsoft driver, what ever that is.

As a test, yesterday morning I installed JAWS 10.0.1142 on another Sony VAIO
laptop I had sitting around, a VGN-N365E/B. I noticed that during
installation, I was asked to install a driver from an unknown publisher.
Not thinking, I said "okay" and installed the driver, what ever it is.
After I restarted the computer, the same RealSpeak problem started
occurring.

I wonder if this driver that was installed (eather by JAWS or Windows
Vista?) has anything to do with the problem? Does anyone know what the
driver in question is? Also, does anyone have any other ideas of what may
be causing this problem and how I might fix it?

Thank you kindly,

Michael Hansen
