Hello Sarah,

It is possible that the question mark key has been mapped to a different key function. However, before getting into key mapping there is another possibility you might check out. One of my keyboards at work for some reason keeps switching to other keyboard languages. There will be times when I put in a password and it is rejected, and the reason is that the keyboard has changed to using a different language. If there is more than one keyboard language installed then try using the left Alt key with the left shift key to see if you can switch between keyboard languages. If the left alt with left shift doesn't switch keyboard languages then check in the control panel under the keyboard settings to find out if there are other keyboard languages installed. In the settings there is a choice for using the Alt and shift key for switching that can be checked if there are keyboard languages to switch between. There are other possible reasons for the problem to be happening, but you might just check this out first.

Take care.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] the questionmark does not speak like normal

Hello. I have a friend who is having this problem. She pushes the
questionmark key but it says another punctuation like left double bracket or something of that nature. I tolk her to have a sighted person take a look to
see if the questionmark is coming out correctly on the screen. If it is,
what could be causing her jaws to do this? She is using jaws 8.

Thanks.
