Hello Estelita,

The easiest way to send a file, is to select the relevant file where it
resides on your pc, use the applications menu by downarrowing to send
via skype, or it may perhaps be in the send menu reached from within the
applications menu and just click on it. Click on the relevant contact in
the skype menu which will open then.

The transfer will start as soon as the other person has accepted the
transfer.

To receive a file:
I haven't done this with skype 4 yet, but provided that your skype is
running, you will receive a message in that window that someone wants to
send you a file and you must accept or deny to receive it, or some words
to that effect.

If you accept by pressing enter on that option, you must specify in
which folder the file must be saved, but per default it's in "my skype
received files," under my documents.

As soon as you confirm that, the file is being sent and progress is
shown by way of I think percentage and also the speed of the transfer.

I don't know whether this is effected by your specific connection, but
presume so.

For me it's slower than sendspace downloads but faster than sendspace
uploads.

When the file is done it is displayed and depending on your skype
settings, that dialogue box closes and you can find the saved file where
you've specified it to be.

It was yesterday mentioned on a list that with skype 4, one needs to use
the jaws curser to save a file.

By the way, skype 4 seems to work ok, provided that one install the
jaws scripts. We have also established that the voice encoding has
improved so much, that apart from much better voice quality, the data on
average to be used per hour on voice calls, has been brought down to
about 30 mb, as opposed to between 80 and 100 mb in early skype
versions.

Regards

Riana
