Hi, hope this helps. Welcome to JAWS Tandem
To start using JAWS TandemT, jump to the links at the bottom of this page, or continue reading the following introduction to JAWS Tandem and its requirements.

JAWS Tandem is a feature that lets you access another computer running JAWS, so that you can provide hands-on technical support, write scripts from a distance, or perform remote JAWS training. This feature consists of a controller system, used by support personnel, distributors, dealers, consultants, and trainers, and a target system, which is the customer's JAWS application and computer. JAWS Tandem operation on the controller system is a subscription service, while the use of JAWS Tandem on the target system is free and always available for the end user.

A JAWS Tandem connection serves as an online meeting between two JAWS users. A meeting can be conducted over the Internet, this is known as a Tandem Center session, or over a private network, known as a Tandem Direct session. The primary connection method will be through Tandem Center, a gateway server responsible for creating meeting IDs, verifying proper use of JAWS Tandem, and providing a path between the two systems. After the session is established, the controller can manage and run the target system's desktop.

Requirements and General Information
JAWS Tandem is available in JAWS 10 or later.
JAWS Tandem requires Windows XP or later. It is not necessary to have the same operating system on both ends of the connection. For example, one computer can be running Windows XP while the other is running Windows Vista.
Internet access is required for a Tandem Center session.
Tandem Center is a gateway server providing a connection between the controller system and the target system. It is responsible for generating meeting IDs. If you have issues connecting to the Tandem Center, please make sure that Internet address tandem.freedomscientific.com and port 12000 have firewall access. If you are in a corporate environment, please contact your IT team with this information. Eloquence is the minimum voice synthesizer required by both systems. The same voice is used for the duration of the session. During the connection handshake, JAWS Tandem detects which voices are currently in used by both systems. If there is a mismatch, you have the option to automatically change your synthesizer until there is a match. Once the session is over, JAWS will return to its previous synthesizer voice. JAWS Tandem running as a controller is a subscription service; JAWS Tandem running as a target is free. Note that with the initial JAWS 10 release, controller operation is being offered for free for a limited period. JAWS Tandem events, such as session errors and the start, suspension, restart, and end of a session, can be reviewed using the Windows Event Viewer. Note that activity conducted during a JAWS Tandem session is not recorded. For Tandem Direct sessions, the target system listens on port 3000 by default.

Hello Everyone,

I want to thank all of you who were kind enough to answer my question
about updating to the latest version of Jaws. This is a great list
and there are so many knowledgeable people to help us blind folks.

BTW, I have been trying to send my e-mail to the list for a couple of
days, but it never went through. Thanks for the management team,
David and Bob for getting to the bottom of my problem. I for some
reason had a graphic in my e-mail and it would not fly. I had no idea
how it got there. Apparently the Jaws Users system does not accept
any e-mail with graphics. Just thought that the list would like to know.

No. I don't think you have to update to the fire version before
updating to the current one. You should be able to update to the
version that's up there now. Good luck.

Take care
