Hi Rick, Would this same advice apply to people using XP? Thanks much, take care. Mike ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rick Justice" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, May 27, 2009 3:21 PM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Sound cards
Hi Mark, You should leave the USB soundcard plugged in, or at least plug it in before the you boot the computer. Also, make sure that you plug it into the same USB port. In regards to USB soundcards, Windows and Jaws will take the last card installed as the default. Plug the USB card in before you boot the computer, and then once loaded, set your soundcard preference in Jaws. If you keep connecting and disconnecting the card while the computer is in use, the problem will persist. I am using JAWS 10 and would like to cause it to always use the on board card and allow the music programs ETC. to use the USB card. When ever I plug in the USB card everything switches to it. Then after I unplug it it all switches back to the on board card. I am using windows vista home addition. However now with jaws 10 and the option to change sound cards on the fly it all works fine. I have two sound cards and I picked one. However, when I went back to my desktop, JAWS was still speaking through the first soundcard and not the one I picked. soundcard. How do I fix this? Thanks in advance.
