Hello Leonard,
To check the status of the cryptographic service, start by bringing up the
run dialog box by using the Windows key with R keystroke. At the prompt
type services.msc and focus should go to a list of services on your system.
If by chance the services list doesn't come up then type CMD at the run
prompt, press enter key, and then type services.msc and press enter key.
Move into the list of services and press home key to make sure you are at
the top of the list. type C or CR until you hear cryptSvc or cryptographic
service. JAWS will give you information about the service. Near the end of
the information will be the status. It should be set to started
automatically. If the service isn't running then press application key, use
down arrow to the start choice and press enter to start the service. After
doing that press application key again and open properties. Use tab to the
startup type and make sure automatic is chosen. Use tab to OK and press
spacebar.
Try installing SP3 again.
Take care.
