Not sure what you have which didn't seem to work well.  I have 2 GB Ram on
XP Pro- so hope that's enough.  Did JAWS speak everything in IE8 while you
had it?

IE8 slowed down my PC so much that I went back to IE7!
 If it has installed, uninstall it and you will go back to IE7.
I think we should all write to Microsoft and tell them that it is c...!

I was surprised to see IE8 as an automatic update already.  Is it really
ready for prime time as far as working reliably with JAWS?  I thought folks
