I never thought it would be of much purpose to me either but now I have 6 pages loading at once and there really doesn't seem to be any degradation in performance. David Ferrin I tried thinking once but decided it was a bad idea. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lenny McHugh" <[email protected]> To: "jaws-users-list" <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, June 24, 2009 8:58 AM Subject: [JAWS-Users] IE 8 loading pages
There is a feature in IE 8 where you can have several pages loaded at startup. I always had my local paper as the start up. This page usually takes a much longer time to load. Toying with the multi start up feature I found that it works great with jaws. I now have blind bargains first then the local paper and the page that my wife normally goes to. I use to think that there was a jaws problem because it would not always talk while my newspaper page was loading. Now the blind bargains page comes up fairly quickly. While reading over that page the news is being loaded in the background. I am using jaws 10 with IE 8 on an xp home computer. I don't know how much more I can push this nine year old machine. It is a 1.3 mhz with 512 meg memory. Nothing appears to run any slower with the multiple pages loaded. I have not had the problem where jaws stopped talking since I started using this new page loading arrangement. --- Please visit my home page; it is motivational, inspirational and humorous with many resources for the blind. http://www.LennyMcHugh.com For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/ For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
