I don't know why, but there is a way to fix this.

I'm using XP with JFW 10. Why does OE require that an email address be in
your addressbook before you can send an email to that address.
If you want to reply directly to someone posting to a list, OE wants you
to
put that email address in your addressbook before it will send the email.
Good way to clutter up your addressbook.
