Hello Russ,

I am writing this on a Netbook made by Asus, loaded with Win XP Home, JAWS 7.1 (I know, I know) and IE7 (a downgrade from the IE8 that was loaded on the machine at time of purchase).

My experience has been mixed. I have a problem with the machine rebooting without warning when using either OE or IE. Other applications, including Goldwave and Skype 4.1 work fine.

I am reluctant to return this computer to Best Buy, as it took me quite a lot of effort to get JAWS installed/authorized and to set up other applications. Plus, I already have personal data stored in the 160 Gb hard disk. Best Buy would probably want to exchange the netbook rather than repair it and solve the problem.

Netbooks in general seem to run very hot after awhile; this is not only my experience with this particular unit, but has also been experienced by colleagues who also use netbook computers.

HTH. Sorry if this reply doesn't conform to list rules....it is less about JAWS and more about hardware.

Thanks,

Paul Shallbetter

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Jaws working with netbooks

Hi everyone,

I didn't see this e-mail posted to the list, probably because I sent it incorrectly, so I am trying again.

I am going to be purchasing a netbook when Windows 7 is released. If you have had any experiences with netbooks would you please reply. Would you also let me know about anything you might have done to help Jaws work more efficiently if there were issues.

Thanks,
Russ
