Try this on for size, keep in mind this is what you might call educated conjecture. A radio button is checked when your cursor lands on it and you simply hit the spacebar to activate it. A standard button allows you access to a new screen. The best example I can come up with is when logging into my bank account, after entering user name and password I am presented with a single log in button. In another screen I am presented with a series of radio buttons that will ask credit, debit, savings, checking, well you get the idea, only one of these buttons in the list can be highlighted and pressed at a time.
