You'll need to do your own research on this. I'm telling you why
existing DVD menus aren't all the same and aren't always accessible.
Different programs are used to create the menu structures on DVD's, and
if there's no audio description tracks (for example), they can't be put
in afterwards. . that's a rough explanation, a sort-of answer to your
question that was given from others having asked it before. Programs
like Power DVD, etc., can only use the menus made available to them by
the DVD. The same is true for any on-screen talking menu 'extractor'
with regard to a DVD. .

Please explain about the specific menus for each DVD, I don't quite
understand. Isn't there some underlying program that creates or
presents them?
Many thanks! Vicky

Sadly, each DVD comes with its own menus.

Here here! I think that you're appsolutely right! I'm trying to
figure out how to contact the company making Ocean Blue Software.
My cable company is an easy matter to contact and I will let them
know about this and urge others in my blind community to request
this.
Since this adaption is possible, do you think that it might lead to
on screen accessibility to DVD information? That's been a major
disappointment of mine for years! I thought when I first got
computer with a TV tuner card and Windows XP entertainment Center,
that all this info would now be accessible. Oh foolishly, over
optimistic, sadly disappointed, me!

Yes, I finally got the chance too read it. I have been trying for
years, fighting with our cable company to provide us with the
ability to be able too access those dammed on screen menus, but
have had no success. I hope that this technology will finally open
a door that has been closed too us. If their's a way too do it, I
think that we should all send them an email thanking them for
trying to develop this project, and send them stories of our
frustration in trying too get the cable industry in particular, too
listen too our concerns especially when you consider the fact that
we who are blind, and listen too movies and other events, pay a
monthly subscription service and don't have the same rightsthat
people with vision have.

Hi Albert, Were you able to read this fantastic article? I sure
hope we'll be able to get it and that it will work with JAWS!
The article says that RNIB will be carrying Ocean Blue's Software.
I went to RNIB's web page and I couldn't find how to request more
info on this product. If anyone can figure that out, would you
let us know? If this is not yet proper for this list, you can
write me offline at:
[email protected]
Many thanks for sharing this exciting information! Vicky
