On first installing Nod32, you get the option to scan your computer. It
will then repair what it can, such as removing infected files if it
finds any.

Hi Larry,
I'm honestly not the best person to answer your question reliably.
I presume the settings for this can perhaps be changed in the
customised
installation, but on both my relevant computers, there appear options
via the applications menu, to scan, and/or scan and clean, selected
existing files or folders, with nod32.
So the default is probably to scan and remove viruses only on new data
and only per request on existing files.
You will for instance not want a virus scan done on every page of a
document you yourself OCR, as it will delay the PROCESS MUCH and would
be unnecessary.
But I'm only a layman user, so you'd really be better advised to
ask the experts.
Regards,
Riana

Hi Riana,
Does Nod32 detect and repair existing problems or does it
simply protect against new threats?

Hello Larry,
I'm using the same versions of operating systems and
programs than you and have been using nod32 now for almost
three years, without a problem and apparent good results.
It's not free however, but you don't have to re-install
anything when buying upgrades for a further year or two
years.
If memory serves, I think you only have to replace the new
code and password.
However, I did not personally install the program initially
and cannot comment on the accessibility of that process.
Nod32 is also the virus scanning program FS recommends for
use with Openbook and Jaws and it also doesn't interfere
with Kurzweil 1000.
It's said to be more reliable than AVG and is less draining
on memory resources than Norden.
Regards,
Riana

Hi folks,
I am using Jaws 9.latest and Windows XP Pro. Lately I have
been hearing some good things about the Nod32 virus
protection software and was curious to hear some feedback.
