I tried to do what you suggested about the file but when I pressed ctrl-shift-o
I couldn't delete any objects. The program apparently tried to process the 440
objects but it is taking an eternity to do so. Will try Google about a free
manual when the thunderstorm my way has passed and that looks like in about
three hours.

You could probably Google for it and get it in PDF. Alternatively,
use control-shift-o to find the objects and delete them one by
one. They're probably what's in the way of the text.
