Chris,
If memory serves me, I do think that Zone Alarm would pop up asking
for it to be allowed or denied.
I did have a problem one time after installing Jaws for the first
time. I think that Jaws needed to go to FS to verify my SMA. For some
reason, I just don't remember exactly what I did to get arounnd it.
I might have brought up NVDA to read the screen. Once I check the
spacebar to remember the program and allowed it, it works okay.
One more thing, I think that you might have the same problems with
Jaws updates.
Sorry for being so vague, but it has been a while since I installed
Jaws 10. I hope that I help a little?

So, if I was to install just the free Zone Alarm, do you think it will block
JAWS the first time it starts? I'm looking for a Windows 7 compatible
firewall, and I thought this may do the trick. Please advise. Thanks.

Randy,
ZoneAlarm has two versions, one is free while the complete one will have to
be purchased.
The free one is the basic free ZoneAlarm. I use this one although navigating
ZoneAlarm is not very friendly to Jaws users. Once it is set up, you can use
it to allow or deny access to the Internet and prevent anyone from accessing
your computer.
Note, this is only a firewall while the paid version comes complete with
anti-virus and anti-spyware.
You can go to the following site to download it at:
http://www.zonealarm.com/security/en-us/free-upgrade-security-suite-zonealar
m-firewall.htm
Press enter on the following which is a link on the page to start the
download.
Get it from CNET Download.com!
