What do you mean you can't use Total Recorder in Vista? This is news to me
as I can successfully use the program with Vista and now 7. Yes, it can pick
up the JAWS voice, but how about this. Open an mP3 file, for example, do a
bit of editing with it, i.e., selecting and copying a chunk, then pasting it
into a new MP3 file, call it whatever, and use that as a ringtone. You don't
even need a license to do this as the noise is only inserted into recordings
made in Total Recorder. Just a thought.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] ringtone program?

Hi All,
If this is a forbidden question, please let me know. I don't want to start
something I shouldn't and am not trying to be "elligal" as some put it with
copyright material.
Does anyone know of a program, preerably free, that works with jaws that can
make ringtones from mp3s?
I used to use total recorder and make clips and then upload them to a
ringtone maker site that would compress the file to make it smaller, but the
ringtones still sounded really really good. However, in vista, you cna't use
total recorder like you could in xp, and so you can't record anything in
total recorder without picking up jaws speech.
I know some free sites where you can download ringtones, but they don't
always have what I want. These same sites have ringtone makers but they use
the flash player to drag the slider to the part of the song you want and are
not accessible. I would buy ringtones, but the process to buy ringtones
through verizon is completely inaccessible, at least in my experience. It is
also impossible to buy ringback tones and/or set them up without sited help.
Thanks,
Sarah A.
