Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Period punctuation help Please?
Hello Vicky,
If you have punctuation announcement set to most and the all level set for
period and ellipsis in the "customize punctuation" box then you won't hear
the period or ellipsis announced.
You can set the punctuation level to most by pressing JAWS key with V
while in Word and then pressing P until you get to the punctuation choice.
Use spacebar to set the level to the most choice. Press enter key to save
the change. You can also change the punctuation level by going into the
JAWS window, going into the options menu, and finding the global
adjustment choice in the voices menu. In the global adjustment dialog use
tab key to the voice punctuation box and use arrow keys to find the "most"
choice. Tab to OK and press enter key.
Go back into Word and open the configuration file by using JAWS key with
6. use alt+S to go into the settings menu. Arrow down to the "customize
punctuation" choice and press enter key. The focus should be in a list of
punctuation. Press the period to move to that punctuation mark in the
list and use spacebar until it is set to the "all" choice. Press the end
key to move to the bottom of the list and you should find the ellipsis
choice. use spacebar until it is set to the "all" choice. Tab to OK and
press enter key. Save changes using CTRL+S and close configuration
manager.
When you want to proofread a document and hear the periods and ellipsis go
into verbosity by using JAWS key with V, press P until you hear the
punctuation choice and press spacebar to set it to "all." Press enter key
to save changes. You should now hear the periods and ellipsis. After
proofreading go back into verbosity, find the punctuation choice and use
spacebar until the "most" choice is found. Press enter key to save
changes.
As long as typing echo is set to "characters" you will hear the
punctuation when you type.
Take care.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Period punctuation help Please?
I would like to silence the announcement of the period during "Say All",
while reading a Word document. I also don't want to hear them when there
is an Ellipsis, or supposed to be.. Sometimes in a scanned document, only
2 periods are there. These are of course, are to be representative of a
character's unfinished thoughts or words.
However, I still want to have the Keyboard echo announce the period, when
I type it or if I am proofed reading, with the Jaws cursor.
Does anyone have any suggestions for me?
Thank you very much in advance! Vicky
