Hello Nicole, To split a column into two columns of equal size you can do the following:
1. Press the Alt key and move to the layout tab. 2. Use tab key to move to the lower part of the ribbon. The first choice is a select button so press spacebar on that button. 3. Use down arrow and press enter key on the "select column" choice. 4. With the column selected press Alt key, move to the layout tab and use tab key to the lower part of the ribbon. Use tab key until you get to the "split cells" choice and press spacebar. 5. If you want to divide the one column into two parts then use up or down arrow keys in the edit/spin box until the number 2 is selected. 6. Use tab key to the "merge cells before split" checkbox and make sure it is checked. If it is not then use spacebar to check it. 7. Use tab key to the OK button and press enter key. You should now have two columns using the same amount of space as the original one column. You can check cursor position by using Alt+delete key at the beginning of columns to make sure it worked. Take care. What about splitting one column into two? ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, December 04, 2009 3:42 PM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Rows for Tables Hello Nicole, If your cursor is in a table then you will have two extra tabs on the ribbon. They will be a "design" and a "layout" tab. Press Alt key and right arrow until you are on the layout tab choice and then press tab key to move to the bottom part of the ribbon. If you use your tab key across the bottom part of the ribbon you will find choices for "insert above", "insert below", "insert right", and "insert left." The insert right and left choices will add columns to the right or left of the column that the cursor is in at the time. The insert above and insert below will add rows above or below the row where the cursor is at the time. There is also an "insert cells" choice, which will open a dialog for you to specify where the cell should be inserted relevant to the current cursor position. The "rows and columns" group also has a delete button where you can delete a row, column, table or individual cells. After moving to the layout taband tabbing to the lower part of the ribbon, pressing shift with right arrow will put focus on this delete button. Take care.
