When I sign on to the gmail site, I land on the field for the user name,
when reading a current line it says etid. However, if up arrowing once it
will say user name. Nonetheless, it doesn't bother me that it doesn't
announce username seeing as I know what field I'm in after signing onto the
site.

It does the same thing to me. I haven't created a custom label for it 
though. I'm using Jaws 11 latest build. I seem to remember it doing this in 
Jaws 10 also.
