Dear list , When Windows 7 came out the suggestion was that it had the key improvements of vista but returned to the performance of XP. It appears that this may not be the case.
In view of some of the issues Jaws appears to be having with Windows 7 there is some food for thought in the link to an article below giving the results of a performance test which shows XP still outperforming Windows 7 The author ran tests on what he called legacy machines rather than the most recent PC models which apparently have features that Windows 7 can tap into. Still as the article is about whether people should upgrade rather than buy a new PC this is a legitimate testing technique . It does look like those with a PC about 2 years old, like me , will be better off sticking with XP for performance . Obviously a focus on the security aspects of XP will also have to be considered. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2355703,00.asp Regards David griffith __________ Information from ESET Smart Security, version of virus signature database 4687 (20091214) __________ The message was checked by ESET Smart Security. http://www.eset.com For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
