I think the clue is in the cannot read drive c message. It sounds like at the very least that you should run a disk repair on this drive. Go to the drive properties in My computer and then go to the Tools tab to do this.
Unfortunately if your image is corrupted through drive errors you may not have any alternative but to use either a factory restore utility or make a fresh install of windows and all your drivers to get your system back to optimum performance. If I had to do this I would personally get an engineer to replace the existing C drive and reinstall windows for me. . I fear that you may need sighted help unless you have an unattended install package set up.. If, on the other hand , the disk repair is sufficiently successful to make your PC work effectively you could of course make another image backup but I really do not recommend that you do this on drive C anyway. .
