it's a toggle.

Control-shift-8 is the hot key to turn off paragraph marks.

This probably does not relate to Jaws but relate instead to your

If you say your wife can see the paragraph mark in Word then Jaws will
quite rightly read this out as this is what it should do as a screen
reader.
If this is the case You need to hide paragraph marks in word and then Jaws
will stop reading these out.
Paragraph marks are not normally visible in Word by default so somebody may
have turned this feature on somehow.
To return Word to a normal behaviour go to the tools menu in Word and then
select options. Show paragraph marks will be in one of these tabs. I
believe
that it will be under the view tab. Press control tab and tab to navigate
through the settings and tabs. Press space to uncheck the option.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Paragraph mark in word 2003

Hello Listers,

After installing Jaws 11, I notice a difference in word 2003.

While reading each line of the document, Jaws 11 says paragraph mark
where the paragraph ends. It also said paragraph mark instead of a
blank line where there is one.

I want to silence Jaws from saying paragraph mark and I do not wish
to do so in the dictionary. How do I change this back to the way Jaws
10 does it? My wife tells me that the paragraph mark is on the screen
in both of Jaws versions.

Any help will greatly be appreciated. Thanks again.

Lennie
