Make sure that you have the latest driver for the sound card on the Compaq
computer.

Hi listers,
I have an older Compaq computer which has poor sound quality and studders.
I also have an older Toshiba computer which has exelant sound quality and
no studdering. The Jaws sound quality is in reference to Eloquence.
Both computers are laptops using XP. I am using a small external speaker
with the Toshiba. Using a headset or external speaker with the Compaq
doesn't remove the studdering and the sound quality still doesn't match
that of the Toshiba. The audio chip on the Compaq uses Conexant audio
and the Toshiba only indicates Audio Codecs under device manager. I am
bringing up this subject because I am planning to purchase a new computer
with Windows 7
and not necessarily a laptop. I would appreciate any recommendations or
information regarding this topic.
