That was my first thought as well. However, that option is not there. Since there are non HTML tables handled in several applications as well, like Word and Acrobat Reader.

I should have made it clear that it would make sense in his case to press Control + Shift + D in Configuration Manager before making changes to the settings so the change will be made system wide.

The place you need to do this is in the main configuration file for jaws. Under the html setting, lists and tables tab menu.

In the Text Processing menu of Configuration Manager, there is a checkbox "Indicate tables". I think it is here because JAWS handles tables in word and other applications that do not use HTML the same way. Uncheck this box, probably in the default Configuration file so you never hear these announcements.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] How toTurn off Table Information in HTMl

I have been using Jaws for ten years and have Jas 6.0.

Yesterday I had to reload Jaws on to the computer because of some glitches and I'm having difficulty customising it again.

I like to have a lot of things switched off. At the moment I can't find out how to stop Jaws from reading out the number of columns and rows in a table also, I can't stop it from announcing the end of the table.

E.G.
Table with 2 columns and 5 rows
and then it will say
table end

I have unchecked the list box for lists in Configuration Manager and also been through just about all other items in the menus and tabs, including graphics, miscellaneous, lists and tables ETC.

Can anyone tell me how to do this.

Thanks

Aine
