Thanks, I updated to 9.0 then as you said I checked for updates. It updated to 9.3.0 after that was completed I again checked for updates and am now using 9.3.1. I found it interesting that it had to do several updates to get to 9.3.1 ----- Original Message ----- From: "David" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, February 23, 2010 10:57 AM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Problem trying to install adobe9.3 on my girlfriends computer.
If you have Adobe Reader on your system, and most of us have, please make sure you have the latest update, as several vulnerabilities have been identified that could put your computer at risk. The latest, supposedly secure, version, is 9.3.1. The best way to update is to run Adobe Reader, go to the Help menu and pick Check for Updates. This is apparently better than going to the Adobe site, which will give you version 9.3, the insecure one. Hi David: Thanksfor trying to help me here. The thing is, that whenever I go to that web site and go too where you and others have suggested that I go too on the webpage, the adobe acrobat 9 point 3 reader that I'm trying to get too to download, doesn't always seem too be in the spot on the page where it says that its designated to be. Also, when and if I'm fortunate enough to locate it, when I arrow down the page in order too uncheck the box too not install that google tool bar,I'm not able too find that option. As I indicated in my last post, I believe that this particular web page was poorly designed, and not well thought out by who ever designed it. Not everybody has the time or wants to experience the level of frustration of sitting down at a computer for hours in a day , trying to find things on a web page that aren't where there supposed too be. Technology is a wonderful thingwhen it works right. But when it doesn't, it can cause people to lose interest in computers. I for one, don't really care how proficient that some of us may think that we are, if the web page, or web pagesare poorly designed, then it doesn't matterhow many shortcut keys we have, or no matterhow many commands we use, aren't going too make any differents if the layout of the page is unuseable. It may look very nice visually, but not practical for people who depend on screen readers.
