As I understand it, J-Say is designed to work with Dragon Pro and to give virtually full voice control of the computer as well as use of Dragon Pro. J-Tools Dictate is buried in J-Tools and works with either Dragon Pro or preferred, the latter being the cheaper Dragon product. J-Tools currently comes in at £45 exc VAT (our equivalent of sales tax at 17.5%), and gives the ability to use either flavour of Dragon, including training the program and using the corrections feature. I would suggest you visit http://www.tandt-consultancy.com/pages/j-tools_information.php I'm sure T&T will answer any questions that you may have as I found them extremely helpful. Please be aware, it looks like J-Tools is specific about which versions of JFW and Dragon it wants and there are also recommendations re sound card, although I understand they have a USB plug in box for £40 - £50ish that generally overcomes any probs. I haven't started using this software yet as I'm awaiting a new laptop but the feedback has been good on their users' list (you can sign up on the J-Say page of their site), and, as I said, I found the folks I talked to at T&T very helpful. I had anticipated transcribing interviews into potentially large documents which can be 30-50 pages long. I use Jaws 11 and am a reasonably proficient touch typist but nevertheless this this is likely to be an onerous task. I had considered using Dragon Naturally Speaking as an alternative. Realistically I could not expect it to recognise the voices of my interviewees but have considered simply listening to the interviews via earphones and dictating the recording back into DNS myself. I am not sure how feasible it is to use dragon Naturally speaking with Jaws in this way. More particularly would there be a problem with the training of my voice recognition for the program? Presumably this is the only hurdle that really needs to be overcome? Dragon can be bought I see for quite reasonable cost. I have seen it advertised for about £40. I investigated the J-Say scripts to work with Jaws and there the combined dragon J-Say scripts package, in contrast, is horrifically expensive at over $800. My question is do I really need this expensive add on to work DNS with Jaws 11? I am a reasonably proficient Jaws user and would be happy to use things like the Jaws Cursor to read necessary parts of the program. Thanks for any assistance.
