The main page takes very long to load because of all of the graphics,
advertisements, and extra content.  The m.facebook.com, and the
lite.facebook.com site works better and loads faster because of less
content.  If you want to use the regular site, you will have to listen for
the status to make sure the page is fully loaded before you try and update
your status or anything else.

I also have problems with facebook crashing Internet explorer.  I dont think

there are any settings that would help because my friend who is sighted has 
also had similar problems with the main facebook page.
