Cher, Give this a try. This is part of the optimizing Jaws for Windows XP Home and Pro documentation. I think this may have come off of the ATI web site.
HTH Larry 1. From the Control Panel, move to "Display" and press Enter. 2. From the themes combo box, select Windows XP. 3. In the List of backgrounds on the Desktop page, choose Bliss. 4. Set Position to "Stretch." 5. In the Screen Saver combo box on the Screen Saver page, press HOME to select none. 6. On the Appearance page, set Windows and Buttons to Windows classic style. 7. Set Color Scheme to Windows Standard. 8. Set Font to normal. 9. Close the dialog. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Don and Cher Bosch Sent: Friday, April 09, 2010 7:07 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Setting Up XP Desktop to Classic for JAWS Chris- Tried that tonight... and, even though I had him reboot, nothing changed on the desktop. He has manually added an IE shortcut, but could not figure out where to look for the Recycle Bin in order to get it added. On my computer, the Recycle Bin does not show the address path, so we got no help looking for it on his. Not sure what the person who did the initial setup did to make the Bin disappear- since it should have been present by default after installation of XP. I've not encountered this before :( Cher -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Chris Hallsworth Sent: Friday, April 09, 2010 12:53 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Setting Up XP Desktop to Classic for JAWS Try this: 1. Press the applications key on the desktop, ensuring no icons are selected first with ctrl+space until it says not selected. 2. Arrow to properties and press enter. 3. Press ctrl+tab to focus to the desktop page, and press the customize desktop...button. 4. Tab to and press the restore defaults button. 5. Tab to and press the ok button. Hope this helps. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Don and Cher Bosch" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, April 09, 2010 4:55 PM Subject: [JAWS-Users] Setting Up XP Desktop to Classic for JAWS > Dear All- With XP Pro, under display, I can't find the options to show > IE and Recycle Bin on the desktop.
